Privacy Policy
Short version: your data stays on your device. We don't collect it, sell it, or share it. No servers. No ads. No tracking.
FitGently ("we," "us," or "our") operates the FitGently mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
a) Account Information
If you sign in with Apple, we receive and store a unique user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your email address. If you sign in with email and password, your credentials are stored securely in the iOS Keychain on your device. We do not transmit account information to any server.
b) Health and Fitness Data
With your explicit permission, FitGently accesses Apple HealthKit to read your daily step count and write completed workout sessions. This data is used solely to display your activity within the App. We never store HealthKit data on external servers, and we never use HealthKit data for advertising, data mining, or any purpose other than providing health and fitness functionality to you.
c) Personalization Data
During onboarding, we collect your age group, activity level, fitness goals, physical limitations, and support needs. This data is stored locally on your device and used solely to personalize your exercise recommendations.
d) Workout and Progress Data
Your completed workouts, streaks, progress history, and mood check-ins are stored locally on your device.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics.
- We do not use any third-party tracking, advertising, or analytics SDKs.
- We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data.
- We do not use cookies or similar tracking technologies.
- We do not sell, rent, share, or transmit your personal data to any third party for any reason.
- We do not serve advertisements.
3. Data Storage and Security
All personal data is stored exclusively on your device using iOS-native storage (UserDefaults for preferences, Apple Keychain for credentials). We do not operate servers, databases, or cloud infrastructure. Because your data never leaves your device, the risk of a data breach from our side is effectively zero.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data persists on your device for as long as the App is installed. You may delete all of your data at any time by:
- Using the "Delete My Account" option in the Care tab within the App, which erases all locally stored data; or
- Deleting the App from your device, which permanently removes all associated data.
Because we do not store your data on any server, once deleted from your device, your data cannot be recovered by us or anyone else.
5. Subscriptions and Payments
Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive, see, or store your payment information, credit card number, or billing details. For questions about charges, refunds, or payment processing, please contact Apple Support directly.
6. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with the following Apple services only:
- Apple HealthKit — to read step data and write workouts (with your permission).
- Sign in with Apple — for account authentication (optional).
- Apple StoreKit — for subscription management.
We do not integrate with any non-Apple third-party services, SDKs, or APIs.
7. Children's Privacy
FitGently is designed for adults, primarily seniors aged 60 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.
8. Your Privacy Rights
a) For All Users
- Access: You can view all data the App stores by navigating through the App's screens.
- Deletion: You can delete all your data using the "Delete My Account" feature or by uninstalling the App.
- Portability: Because all data is on your device, you already possess your data.
b) European Economic Area (GDPR)
If you reside in the EEA, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, and port your personal data. Because all data is stored locally on your device and we have no access to it, you exercise these rights directly through the App or by deleting the App. Our legal basis for processing personalization data is your consent (provided during onboarding).
c) California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information. You may exercise your deletion right through the App as described above.
d) Other Jurisdictions
We respect data protection laws worldwide, including the UK GDPR, India's DPDP Act, Brazil's LGPD, and Canada's PIPEDA. Because we store no data on servers and collect no data beyond what is described above, our practices meet or exceed the requirements of these laws.
9. International Data Transfers
We do not transfer your data internationally because we do not transfer your data at all. All data remains on your device.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected within the App, and the "Last updated" date at the top will be revised. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Disclaimer
FitGently is a general wellness application and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Use of the App and any exercises described within it is entirely at your own risk. Please refer to our Terms of Service for full health and safety disclaimers, assumption of risk, limitation of liability, and indemnification provisions.
